Five criteria for warm wedding days

A summer wedding can feel light and relaxed—the dress should carry that feeling too. During your fitting, check above all:

  • Weight and number of fabric layers
  • Breathability of the outer fabric and lining
  • Freedom of movement when sitting, walking, and dancing
  • a train that can be securely bustled or removed
  • your personal feeling of warmth and wearing comfort

Fabrics, lining, and construction

Chiffon, tulle, organza, or silk can feel light. Modern synthetic fibres can also be comfortable—the weave, lining, layers, and construction of the entire dress are what matter. A single fabric label therefore tells you less than a longer movement test. Flowing A-lines and lightweight Boho dresses are popular options, but not a requirement.

Consider the dress and venue together

Beach: durable hems and a manageable train. Garden: Freedom of movement on grass and an uncomplicated skirt. Castle: a festive effect is also possible with lightweight construction. Barn or country wedding: Consider comfort, the ground surface, and the evening temperature together.

Shoes, hairstyle, and the final fitting

Test your shoes on the floor surface at the venue and plan a comfortable second pair if necessary. An updo or half-up hairstyle can keep your neck free. Most importantly, stay in the dress for a few minutes, sit down, raise your arms, and dance—you will learn more this way than from a brief look in the mirror.
